Speaker bio

Hugo Delissen studied Chemical Engineering in Eindhoven. Started working at Philips Electronics and later Philips spin-offs for about 15 years in the field of materials and chemicals. From engineering to product development manager and operations manager. From 2004 to 2013 I started 4 chemical companies. Since 2013 I have coached 98 start-up companies in chemistry and materials, health, food and smart services.

Talk:

Falling in love with the problem, not with the solution!

Technical start-ups are very often initiated by technical people who focus on the technical product development (the solution) from the beginning. Focusing on the customer problems and developing value for the customer is needed to find a clear market fit and funding. Creating a great business model and unique value proposition is key and needs to be developed from the start of the start-up in parallel with the product development.
